Show and Tell

What I decided to bring in today for my show and tell is my cross ring. When I was moving in I thought I forgot it at home, but it turns out that it was hidden in one of my drawers and I found it this past weekend. This ring is super important to me as it was given to me by my grandma. She passed it down to me and before being mine, it was hers. When I was leading my seminar table we talked about wearing clothes for ourselves and wearing clothes for other people. Me and a few other people talked about how we use jewelry to express ourselves. I talked about how when I wear this cross ring, it serves as a reminder to me of my faith and my God. It reminds me who saved me and who I follow. This relates to how in the veiling podcast the Mormons wear garments to remind themselves of the commitments and promises they make to their temple. That’s why I wear my ring. As a reminder. I also wear other jewelry that has meaning. Like my claddagh ring which is representative of my Irish heritage and my bracelet that is the last tangible thing that my father gave to me. My jewelry is not only worn for looks but it tells a story and serves a purpose. Just like why people wear their hijab or their garments.
